WHAT IS THE HEART CHAKRA?

Your heart chakra is the energy centre that is associated with love and forgiveness. It represents your ability to forgive, show compassion, be empathetic and of service to others.

WHAT ARE SOME BLOCKS THAT COME UP?
Blockages can manifest as immune system deficiencies or heart problems. Are you affected by antisocial and narcisstic behaviour. Characteristics of a blocked heart chakra include fear of rejection, feeling unworthy of love or loving too much. Your heart chakra might need to be balanced if you feel a sense of coldness and withdrawal from love and relationships.
A BALANCED HEART CHAKRA

A healthy and open heart chakra means you are in harmony with all around you. You are open, giving, and loving. You literally glow and radiate your inner peace and happiness because you understand love involves giving selflessly, with no expectations of anything in return.

Physical Connection: The heart, blood, vagus nerve and circulatory system. Love, compassion, drive and respiration.

Psychological functions: Your openness to life, your loving feelings for others, your compassion and your ability to forgive.

When your heart chakra is balanced, you:

  • recognise the more love you allow yourself to receive, the more love will be around for others
  • trust
  • forgive
  • give unconditional love
  • are centred and peaceful
  • are loving and compassionate
  • are open to receive and give.

A DEFICIENT (DEFENSIVE) HEART CHAKRA

A deficient chakra means you have weakness or avoidance around the issues of the chakra. A weakened heart chakra can cause us to be anti-social and withdrawn, to be critical and judgmental, or to feel lonely and depressed.

If the heart chakra is deficient we can feel a sense of coldness and withdraw from love and relationships. There is a tendency to withhold love and affection from others and ourselves. With a deficient heart chakra, we want the energy of love, but we do not want to take any risks to get it.

There can be a sense of living in the past, and holding onto old relationships, and old wounds. A deficient heart chakra can cause us to lack empathy for others and ourselves, and may reveal itself in a sense of emptiness, judgment, bitterness and cynicism.

Symptoms of Deficiency:

  • antisocial, withdrawn, cold
  • critical, judgemental, intolerant of self and others
  • loneliness, isolation
  • depression
  • fear of intimacy and relationships
  • lack of empathy
  • narcissism.
AN EXCESSIVE (OVER COMPENSATING) HEART CHAKRA

If a chakra is excessive, you overcompensate with actions to try to heal that chakra. If excessive, we may be demanding or co-dependent, jealous or overly self- sacrificing. Physical effects of an imbalance are centred in the heart and chest and include poor circulation, asthma, and tension between the shoulder blades.

If the heart chakra is excessive, we use love to compensate for our own sense of incompleteness, as in the case of co-dependency. We look to others for a sense of wholeness, and in turn we end up smothering their spirits desire for freedom.

This can create a cycle of insecurity-clinging-rejection- insecurity. To stop the cycle, we must create security within the self. When in excess, we often deny our own needs, and put the needs of the relationship before our own. In this state we can often be demanding and jealous.

Excessive Symptoms:

  • Co-dependency
  • Poor boundaries
  • Demanding
  • Clinging
  • Jealousy
  • Overly sacrificing

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY HEART CHAKRA IS OUT OF BALANCE?
You might be out of balance if you have co-dependent relationships with others or are prone to feeling jealous. Another characteristic is feeling that you’re not worthy of love and tend to manifest destructive relationships as a result. Do you tend to give a lot more in relationships than what you get back?
