A deficient chakra means you have weakness or avoidance around the issues of the chakra. A weakened heart chakra can cause us to be anti-social and withdrawn, to be critical and judgmental, or to feel lonely and depressed.
If the heart chakra is deficient we can feel a sense of coldness and withdraw from love and relationships. There is a tendency to withhold love and affection from others and ourselves. With a deficient heart chakra, we want the energy of love, but we do not want to take any risks to get it.
There can be a sense of living in the past, and holding onto old relationships, and old wounds. A deficient heart chakra can cause us to lack empathy for others and ourselves, and may reveal itself in a sense of emptiness, judgment, bitterness and cynicism.
Symptoms of Deficiency:
- antisocial, withdrawn, cold
- critical, judgemental, intolerant of self and others
- loneliness, isolation
- depression
- fear of intimacy and relationships
- lack of empathy
- narcissism.
If a chakra is excessive, you overcompensate with actions to try to heal that chakra. If excessive, we may be demanding or co-dependent, jealous or overly self- sacrificing. Physical effects of an imbalance are centred in the heart and chest and include poor circulation, asthma, and tension between the shoulder blades.
If the heart chakra is excessive, we use love to compensate for our own sense of incompleteness, as in the case of co-dependency. We look to others for a sense of wholeness, and in turn we end up smothering their spirits desire for freedom.
This can create a cycle of insecurity-clinging-rejection- insecurity. To stop the cycle, we must create security within the self. When in excess, we often deny our own needs, and put the needs of the relationship before our own. In this state we can often be demanding and jealous.
Excessive Symptoms:
- Co-dependency
- Poor boundaries
- Demanding
- Clinging
- Jealousy
- Overly sacrificing
